Climbing in the Canyon by Reed Tanner
Kodiak Leadership Camp by Mike Davies
We arrived at camp new fork up in Wyoming and left CJ and Matt to go do their thing. Mike, Adam and Dillon were part of the Kodiak camp and CJ and Matt were part of the week long river run. The first day the Kodiak crew set up camp and did some team building exercises. The second day we went on a one day river run and had lots of fun unswamping people. Thee third day we went on a back country stroll and had different activities where we had to solve a mystery murder. The fourth day we hiked up a mountain and had a testimony meeting. The last day we packed up the camp out in the middle of nowhere and canoed back to camp new fork. We then proceeded to have our closing ceremony and pack up and go home. In the end it was a successful weeklong campout.
Summer Camp on the River by Matt Carey
Monday we left for camp and once we got there we put our supplies in 3 five gallon buckets. The rest of the day we practiced some canoe safety and canoed to the first campsite. Tuesday we canoed all day long in calm river to get used to canoeing, then practiced more safety procedure once we got to the next campsite. Wednesday while canoeing we all swamped in the tough water. Matt held to the canoe and got banged up. Thursday we canoed to the end, packed up and left.
CJ and Matt went to this summer camp. The rest of the team went on some Kodiak hike. The best day was probably Thursday because we didn’t swamp as much as Wednesday. That’s why Wednesday wasn’t so much fun. We also would’ve ran out of food, if we didn’t leave on Thursday instead of Friday. We left on early mainly because we didn’t want to go on the hyperbolic.
Eating Like Mountain Men by Mike Davies
In June 2008 we attended the Mountain man rendezvous. We did a variety of things like archery, black powder rifle shooting, tomahawk throwing and fire starting. It was a fun campout we got to do all the cooking we got to act in a skit and we had a blast (and won). Our crew of 3 first year scouts placed 3rd in the John Colter run (and no we did not do it naked) and we placed 3rd overall. We couldn’t of done it without the supervision of Reed Tanner and sue chef Syd Davies who helped us cook the meals (which we then got back and proudly bragged about how well we ate).
Varsity Games 2008 by Matt Carey
In April 2008 we attended Varsity Games. For Varsity games we did a variety of activities. We played golf, ping pong, soccer, and baseball. We ran, did push ups, long jump, running long jump, and frisbee throwing. Everyone in our team got at least one award, and we were the only team who had everyone wear uniforms for which we also received an award.
